Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan & Cast Have Begun Filming the Final Season of Outlander

Following the announcement that the second half of Outlander's penultimate season 7 would broadcast in November 2024, the good news continues, heralding the end of what fans undoubtedly see as the longest "Droughtlander" they've ever experienced.

But don't worry, cameras began rolling on Season 8, the last season of Outlander, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this summer.

Claire and Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, will be joined by Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Caitlin O'Ryan, and Paul Gorman.

Outlander even released video proof that all of the actors are back on set. Balfe and executive producer Maril Davis confirmed in June at the ATX Festival that they are directing the picture themselves.

This will be Balfe's debut as a director, and she and Heughan discussed how it will be her first time directing not only their program, but also Heughan himself.

As thrilling as it is to learn that the Scotland drama has returned to set, the news is bittersweet because this will be the final first day of filming for this huge,

long-running show based on Diana Gabaldon's popular Outlander book series. But, before you grab a box of tissues,

keep in mind that Outlander still has 18 episodes left, ten of which have yet to be made. So cry later.
