Scotty McCreery has won many times. American Idol was his first win. He then topped country charts and won awards.  

The North Carolina native has won Academy of Country Music, CMT, and BMI honors.   

His five songs and three albums have topped Billboard's Country Airplay and Top Country Albums charts.  

His longtime desire came true Saturday night (April 20) when he joined the Grand Ole Opry.

McCreery was welcomed to the Opry by Randy Travis and Josh Turner, two of his musical inspirations.  

Turner prepared a touching welcome speech for the “I Love You This Big” singer.   

He first borrowed the chorus from George Jones' 1983 single “Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes.”
